What is Spooling in OS?

The expansion of spooling is simultaneous peripheral operations online. Simultaneous means for example if two or more users issue the print command, and the printer can accept the requests even the printer printing some other jobs.

The printer printing one job, at the same time the "Spool Disk" can load some other jobs. Consider the figure above in spooling in operating system.

Spool Disk in OS

"Spool Disk" is a temporary buffer, it can read data from secondary storage devices directly. Simultaneously the CPU executing some other job in the spool disk, at the same time the printer printing the 3rd job. So, three jobs are running simultaneously.
